Birth - Hemborough
« on: Wednesday 12 April 17 10:24 BST (UK) »
Request lookup of the birth of Mary Hemborough (Stenner) who was buried 17 Feb 1847 at Selworthy.   Her age at death was given as 94.   On 9 Oct 1771 she married William Stenner (bap 24 Mar 1750 at Selworthy) at Selworthy.    They had 8 children all baptised at Selworthy.
There are a couple of Hemborough baptisms at Selworthy in the mid 1700s but no Mary.   Any help greatly appreciated.

FreeREG gives several possibilities, at Lydeard St Lawrence, Ash Priors, North Curry and Dulverton, but none any nearer.

However the one at Dulverton (1753) has parents Thomas and Joan and there was a William baptised at Selworthy in 1748 and Thomas in 1750 with parents with the same names. Also a Thomas Hemborough was a witness at Mary's wedding. So I think there's a reasonable chance that that's the one you want.

Thomas Hemborough and Joan Sully were married at St Decuman's in 1748.

Thank you David, it does seem more than mere coincidence.
