You mention that, that family returned to Canada. Did William (who was 6 in 1934) also accompany them?

Yes he did  ;D

I have spoken to the only person who can give some info on the family again. I mentioned the passenger list which I have a gut feeling that it is the same William, and they have confirmed that he did have sisters called Ceoliia and Winnifred as they once met them.

I shall attempt to obtain further evidence but I am more certain that this is him travelling from Canada 6 years old.

I found a passenger list that was very interesting. The ship[ sailed from Montreal to Glasgow on 14 May 1934. William is aged 6 but the destination address is 60 Cemetery Road, Southport. I believe that this is likely to be him but I have no knowledge of his parents. There is a Margaret (age 47) which I assume is his mother and Ceollia and Winnifred who are likely to be his sisters - no mention of a father.

It arrived at Liverpool 13 May 1934 -  details on the family
Margaret age 47
William age 6
Cecilia age 19 (occ Teacher)
Winnifred age 16 (Student)

Passenger list for 21 June 1935 sailing from Liverpool  ( Canadian Passenger Lists, 1865-1935 )
William Gibson age 49 born Ashton in Makerfield occ Bricklayer - (sister Mrs Clift 39 Curzon Road, Southport)
Margaret Ellen Gibson 48 - born Ashton in Makerfield (Brother John Kennedy 37 Gladville Road, Aigburth, Liverpool)
William Thomas Gibson 7 bn Montreal
Cecilia Ann Gibson 20 bn Ashton in Makerfield
Winifred Gibson age 18 bn Bryn

The family were apparently in Canada between 1920 & 1934 prior to this trip  :-\

Thank you. I hadn't looked for a passenger list for them going to Canada before William's birth. I did see the one dated 1935 and found it very interesting. If this is the same William then this information will unlock everything where I need to go on from there.

I have ordered the marriage certificate but due to bank Holiday probably won't be processed until Tuesday earliest.

I shall keep myself busy with this tree and delve a little further into William's son death.

It has taken some time but I have finally received the marriage certificate for William Thomas Gibson.

He married Joyce May Threlfall in Southport on 31st March 1951. He was aged 22, and she was aged 25. Both are described as bachelor and spinster respectively.

William was living at 3, Glenrose Terrace, Southport and was a Machinist (knitting factory). His father was William Gibson (deceased) and his father's occupation was Bricklayer (journeyman).

Joyce was living 135 Milton Street, Southport and was a Power Machinist (knitting factory). maybe they both worked in the same factory? Her father was Joseph Threlfall (also deceased) and he was a Master Painter and Decorator.

At this point I am more interested in finding out about William Gibson who had died.

can anyone advise on where I search next please?

Ignoring William Thomas, the last time we have found William senior, Margaret Ellen, Cecilia Ann & Winifred is returning to Canada in 1935.  I think that you may need to post on the Canada boards in case they remained there.

This is a possibility I surpose. With waiting for the certificate to arrive I haven't looked at any other gform of research. I will now add this info to the tree and look at what area I need to look at next, which will probably be on the  Canadian boards.
