St. Marcela (Whitchurch), Denbigh. MI for Robert Roberts 1907
« on: Thursday 13 April 17 07:19 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Does anyone know if the Monumental inscriptions for St Marcella's (Whitchurch) near Denbigh are available anywhere? I am looking for my ancestor, Robert Roberts who was buried there in 1907.

Thanks.

Hi

They should be available as St Marcela's was a C of E Church. Records might well be online (you could check on FamilySearch for free or FindMyPast (pay to view) and would definitely be at the National Libary of Wales.

Do you have a date of birth and death for him or an address as I see that there were 5 burials fro a Robert Roberts in Denbigh for that year - one was a child though.

Sorry - I misread - I now see that you wanted MIs. Clwyd FHS do have some MI booklets - see
http://www.clwydfhs.org.uk/publications.htm

Added - there might be a local listing so it might be worth contacting the church direct ~

Its not included in the list of MIs so far covered by Clwyd FHS.

Thanks for all your help.

Robert Roberts was getting on for 90, there is an obituary here:

MI's for this church dont seem to be listed on the clywdfhs, so might have to visit myself. Looks like a lovely old church.

Cheers,
Matt

I noticed on one site that I came across (I Googled Find a grave St Marcella Denbigh - but not the usual find a grave site ) that they were in the process of photographing St Marcella headstones. I'll see if I can find it in my history but it might have cleared as I've been off line.

Lucky - here it is

Notice that St Marcella is in red which indicates:

Cemeteries and churchyards that are listed in RED are ones which volunteers are currently photographing and indexing and are therefore not yet available.

Added - also says that they expect the pics to go online May 2017
