Where was Mary from and what is her mothers forename

Mary Vidler nee Standing arrived in Australia in 1838 on board the Maitland.

The attached clipping makes references to Mary's origins.

Can anyone fill in the ?'s for me please?

Would Mary's Australian death certificate tell you her place of birth, or origins?

Looks like 'some place' Sussex to me.

I thought it looked like Tysis, which may be Ticehurst?  :-\

Very good point Ruskie although it won't show her place of birth but it will show her parents [if known]

The original is also lacking in some punctuation, but there appears to be an apostrophe in the puzzling word  ;D

Westy, I was hoping that the original death certificate might show her place of birth.

Unsure what is shown on d/cs in all Australian States. (is that a Victorian index?)

Ruskie: the clipping was for New South Wales.  As you can see if the death informant didnt know the parents names all manner of material was recorded.

The attached is an example for Victoria.

Ruskie, I didn't finish my line of thought so apologies.   ::)

Death certificates often show the place of birth [if it were known]. 

The clippings I have posted are for the death indexes available online.  If you pay the price you can buy the certificates online when you locate the one you are seeking; so instant gratification which is great on one hand but jolly expensive otherwise as sometimes the heat of the moment takes me.  ;D

Most states now have this facility.

When was Mary born?   It might be possible to find a baptism on the SFHG site.  I can't see a marriage for Samuel to a Sophia in Sussex.
