Lydia Clark Birth 5 MAY 1817 Petty,Inverness,Scotland
« on: Friday 14 April 17 13:58 BST (UK) »
Looking for any info on Lydia Clark after 1841.

She is daughter of

Donald Clark 1785–1853 Donald was schoolmaster at Petty until his death

Jane Campbell 1789–1869

We see Isabella at the schoolhouse in 1841 but no sign in 1851 or 1861 but assume family had to leave schoolhouse after father passed.  As she would have been about 34 in 1851 we wonder if she married.

We know  at least four other siblings came to Canada but no luck in documents in Canada so far.  We find a marriage in 1861 Canada with the correct father's name and birth year but mother as Lilly.  The area of the marriage has a large number of Clark families from Scotland  but none seem an exact fit to any of her siblings.

I had received information from a user on another site that there is a death for a Lydia Clark 1 Nov 1850 in Petty at age 30 which seems close and would explain my inability to find her in the 1851 Census.  Unfortunately they had no details.

Have you looked for the death on the free index on Scotlands People and downloaded a copy?

Just grabbed the record from Scotland's People.  The record reports little on family but she passed at "schoolhouse" which is where he father taught and family lived.

Hard to read part of the information but clearly my2nd great aunt.

Thanks again
