Can anyone possibly read the entry no 197 for Daniel Bruning?  Does it give any information on his father?

Can you capture a screen image [using PrintKey, for example] and post it here?

Having said that, I doubt I could decipher that old German handwriting;
but perhaps someone else can if the image is visible.

Download the image if you can, then crop it to the entry you want help with, try to leave a few on top or bottom if handwriting comparison is needed.

Those screen shots didn't help me much either. However, I have been able to view the two records through my own ancestry subscription.

In response to your specific question, the records do not provide any further information about the men's father. Both Carl Ludwig and Hermann Daniel were the sons of Hermann Brüning and his wife Annette Johanna born Grottendieck.

Carl Ludwig B., b. 16 Sep 1895, volunteered for military service on 17.08.1914 and initially served in the Ersatz-Bataillon (Replacement Battalion) of Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 75.

On 19.05.1915, he was granted the right to serve voluntarily for one year.

On 22.06.1915, he was taken on strength by the Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 162.

Hermann Daniel B., b. 30 August 1898, was initially assigned to the Landsturm. On 28.11.1916, he obtained the authorisation to serve voluntarily for one year.
