Shellyesq, could you compare the death certificates for Mary 1930 & Mary 1933.  The writing and signature for John Kehoe looks remarkably similar on both to me, what do you think?

The handwriting looks somewhat different to me, and I'm not sure the 1930 one was actually signed by the informant.  On the certificate for the 1930 death, the handwriting looks the same throughout, including the cause of death and the doctor's name.  I would hope that all that wouldn't have to be filled out by the bereaved husband, and I doubt too many non-medical people in that situation could successfully spell lobar pneumonia.

Mary died of Lobar Pneumonia.  The doctor wrote that he had attended on Mary from the 12th April 1930 and that she died at 7.00 pm on the 15th April 1930.


Lobar pneumonia is an acute exudative inflammation of an entire pulmonary lobe, produced in 95 % of cases by Streptococcus pneumoniae (pneumococci). If not treated, lobar pneumonia evolves in four stages. Common to all stages is the enlargement of the affected lobe with loss of it's spongy appearance.
