I have Gavin Howie of Lochgoin, son of John Howie who wrote the Scots Worthies , marrying Janet Paton in Eaglesham in 1831. Janet Paton was a daughter of Thomas Paton and Agnes Gilmour.
Thomas Paton was my 4 x great grandfather.

Hi everyone ive had it wrong I finally purchased Robert WOODBURNs death cert of 1863 and it lists his father as Hugh no mother listed...When i look at census i see he is more likely born 1791 Loundoun...Only Hugh ive found marrying pre 1791 is to an Elizabth MASON they had a daughter Agnes born 1787
