does anyone recognise this man? Holsworthy/St Thomas
« on: Saturday 15 April 17 23:17 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone

This is a long shot but am wondering if anyone recognises this man, especially from the Holsworthy/St Thomas areas in Devon. He is supposedly the father of my partner's great grandmother, Dorothy Violet Langdon, daughter of Mary Jane Langdon.

Many thanks,

Keelan

I haven't seen him before sorry.
Could you tell me what the gentleman is holding.

Maybe a name, some dates & an occupation would assist people who may be researching your/his family & have come across photos?

Is it a bird with wings?  Although not sure why it would be on a hose.  Some kind of sprinkler watering device?

Unfortunately I don't have a name or a date for him, I was just hoping someone may recognise him from their own family research. His daughter was born in 1896 and the mother of his daughter was born in 1870. The man is holding the reins of a horse. The only info on the back of the photo says 'my mother's father'.

Holding the reins of a horse  :o I would never have got that!  Now you say it I can see the horses nostrils.

I do apologise for thinking it was a bird on a hose  :-[

Milliepede,

If it's any consolation, I too thought it was a bird  :P

I have had my pic taken with an Owl (from a Falconry with other birds of prey) & the bird was chained to the persons wrist i.e. I thought this was a leather strap/attachment pre chain days which the man was holding  ::)

How the eyes can deceive  ;D
