Caroline Alice Stammers British Home Child arrived 1911
« on: Sunday 16 April 17 23:24 BST (UK) »

Caroline Alice Stammers born Jan qtr 1899 Grantham, Lincolnshire, England to Alice Stammers. Between 1901 & 1911 census Caroline was put in the Barkingside Barnado’s home in Ilford, Essex, England.
29th June 1911 she started journey to Canada, arriving 11th July 1911 on the Sicilian.
Destination was Peterborough, Ontario.
Looking for anything of her life after Barnados, her marriage, any children.
I’ve been in touch with Barnado’s so not expecting info on that period of her life but if anything is available it will be welcome.
Happy to share details of Alice’s family if anyone is looking. Thanks.

Not found under surname STAMMERS in 1921 census, maybe married but marriage not found in Ontario records.  She was still alive in 1920 as found in this record, wonder if original gives residence?

When going to any website with .gc.ca in the address be prepared for a wait while downloading, the government of Canada has the slowest servers in the world.

Shame, have one lady I would like to discount, perhaps a long shot but the birth date might have helped  :-\

Great find, Sandra. Any way to find out if she was British?

1921 Canada census has a Mrs Carolina McCullough age 24
Born abt 1897 Quebec married to Clyde, living in Winnipeg at the time.

I’m assuming Robert is her son on the grave stone.
Anyway this is all very exciting and more than I dared hope for.
Thanks for your help and I look forward to anything else you can find.

Lets see what an obituary would turn up, if we can find one.  Doubt very much that the people you have listed above are correct.  Clyde was James Clyde McCullough - 2 July 1893 - Kincardine, Ontario, Canada and passed away 1943 - Winnipeg Man. Caroline was Constance Emma Smyth aka Caroline Smith or Smyth.
