Kent Autumn Assize Record
« on: Sunday 16 April 17 23:28 BST (UK) »
Evening

I'm trying out more information regarding this incident, recorded in the two following newspapers:

04 December 1903 - Kent & Sussex Courier
05 December 1903 - Whitstable Times and Herne Bay Herald

George Jacobs, 41, blacksmith, pleaded not guilty to an indecent assault on his illegitimate child, at Faversham, on October 24th. He was found guilty and sentenced to twelve months' hard labour.

Can someone please advise on where I should start regarding this? Also where would the above individual have surved his sentence?

The Kent Assizes you refer to were held at Maidstone .You could try the Maidstone Library first or the Centre for Kentish Studies .http://www.kent.gov.uk/leisure-and-community/history-and-heritage/kent-history-and-library-centre
Probably Canterbury for his sentence.
