Carol,
I suspect aussie-girl already has a lot of the references I posted but I figured I may as well post them to avoid anyone else re-treading the same steps.
There are a couple of other references which I didn't post though:
Postal service:
Aug 1907; Henri E Koeune; Temporary boy clerk [?]; Brighton
Teachers register:
Aug 1920; Helene Marie Koeune; Assistant mistress, East Hove Higher Grade Girls School 1908-
As for the Andersons, it looks like aussie-girl has another thread for them. Following that branch risks duplicating others' searching.
SIMMS-ANDERSON
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=769016.0Your post did make me curious though and I did wonder whether there was some church connection between the Koeunes and Andersons, as Harry/Henry was from Eastbourne (by the look of it) and they may have taken Alec under their wing. However, I couldn't find any references between the families though so quite how Alec came to be so close to the Andersons is a mystery. Maybe aussie-girl has some ideas.
It does seem slightly odd that the Andersons and Alec sailed from Glasgow when they all seemed to have lived down south.
(Possible) references to Harry:

Harry (and his brother Percy?) as scholars at the school. The school appears to be a school for poor boys.

Harry, a dental assistant.
Ref RG13; Piece 107; Folio 136; Page 41;
Quite where and when Harry would have trained in dentistry, between 1891 and 1901, is a mystery. There doesn't look to be money in the family, so could he have afforded proper training? Maybe his level of training was
basic.
