« on: Thursday 20 April 17 06:00 BST (UK) »
I have found a newspaper report for the death of a James CROWTHER of Haley Hill, who was killed at Norland Mill 21 Jan 1835 - but cannot find the corresponding burial.
Can anyone help please?
He is possibly my 5*g grandfather  :-\

Very sorry, but I can't see a burial in the currently available on-line records - FreeREG, Family Search, Ancestry (including available non-conformist records) or FindMyPast.   :'(

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

The newspaper report puts his age as between 50 and 60

There's a burial on FindMyPast for -
James Crowther, age 51, residence Halifax, burial place Halifax St John, date 29 March 1835 - just over 4 weeks after the accident

Thew newspaper report says he was killed on 21 Jan, I can't see that that is him buried in March, over 9 weeks later, sorry.

My miscalculation - calculated just over 4 weeks not 9 weeks lapsed time!!

Eliminations:

St John the Baptist, Halifax - no entry
St Mary, Elland - no entry
Holy Trinity, Halifax - no entry
St Luke, Norland - too early
All Souls, Haley Hill - too early
Norland, non-conformist - too early
Lister Lane Cemetery, Halifax - too early
Stoney Royd Cemetery, Halifax - too early
St Matthew, Northowram - no burial records indicated for this church, and too early

Possible - Blackmires (n-c), Northowram - burials 1820-1836

Possible buried at Ambler Thorn Methodist chapel, Queensbury.
Bradford used to have the Arthur Blackburn notes for MI's there.
