James Price b 1868
« on: Friday 21 April 17 04:16 BST (UK) »
Recently I found this photo of a great uncle. On the back it said "James Price killed 1916". James was born in Kinnerley, Shropshire about 1868. I cannot find him in the 1891, 1901 or 1911 censuses so perhaps he joined the regular army.  I would appreciate any information about him so that I can find details of his military service.

Thank you, Ted White

The cap badge looks to be from The King's (Liverpool) Regiment?

In which case, this might be your man (from Commonwealth War Graves Commision - cwgc.org):

Private 6946 James Price, KLR 10th Bn
Died 23/9/1916  age 25
Commemorated at Guards Cemetery, Lesboeufs

Notes: Son of Elizabeth Price, of 7, Curzon Rd., Waterloo, Liverpool, and the late James Price.

If James was born in 1868, he would have been 48 when he died in 1916. The photograph certainly looks like someone older than 25, unless he seriously under-stated his age.

The cap badge for the Shropshire Light Infantry is a horn?

I still favour the King's (Liverpool) Regiment ;D

Well I have to plead my ignorance on cap badges and anything Militaria - but I have googled - and I would say you are correct KG.

But the record I mentioned in my earlier post is the only one I could find.
