Occupation?
« on: Friday 21 April 17 12:58 BST (UK) »
I need a bit of help trying to figure out the occupation listed in between commercial traveller and civil service clerk - can anybody help? If it helps, it is my great-great uncle's entry in the 1911 census from Greenock.

Ship Plate Rivter (i.e. Riveter)

However, the occupational code for Platers and Riveters was 681. The code shown here is 682 which is 'Ship - other workers in iron'.

It could be that the coder couldn't work out what it said and coded it in the 'other' category.   I think the image is an enlargement of the original and I certainly enlarged it to try to work out what it said.
