John Archibald Campbell
« on: Friday 21 April 17 13:58 BST (UK) »
My great uncle John Archibald Campbell, a flight engineer at the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve died in July 1943 in an aviation accident, but I am intrigued to find out more details on the death cert. It doesn't appear on ScotlandsPeople, so I was wondering whether there was any other way for me to find his death certificate? I know there is a memorial in England for him, however I would have thought his death would have been registered in Scotland? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the accident occurred in England then his death would legally have had to be registered there.  Although in Scotland an event can either be recorded at place of event or of usual residence in England an even has to be recorded in the registration district the event occurred.
Campbell, Dunn, Dickson, Fell, Forest, Norie, Pratt, Somerville, Thompson, Tyler among others

This is in the Perthshire Advertiser on 31st July, 1943.

Sgt. John A. Campbell, RAF, son of Mrs May D. Campbell, late of 177, Glasgow Road, Perth,
and Pitlochry, and now residing at Rowanlea, Alexandra Terrace, Fraserburgh, has been killed
on active service.
Twenty years of age, Sgt. Campbell was educated at Perth Academy and George Heriotís School,
Edinburgh. He was a member of the Pitlochry A.T.C. before joining the R.A.F. ten months ago.

Edit: I'm a numpty, there's a photo as well.

Lawrie name in Fife (and elsewhere) with all its various spellings.

Many thanks for this. I've only ever seen one other photo of him. Much appreciated.
