If it's any help (I don't know if you know the area), Llangynidr, Llangattock, and Beaufort are all quite close, with the two former on the northern side of the mountain and Beaufort being on the southern side at the heads of the valleys.  They would probably all have been within walking distance in those days!

looking at the censuses again, the ages do actually correspond quite closely. Thanks very much for the suggestions about children and family members Osprey, that was a big leap forward in research, which I had been stumped on for a long time. Now I just have to try to go back further!
And thanks Greensleeves, I do now the area but its always surprising to think how far people traveled in those days.

possible marriage in Llangynidr 29 May 1801 of John Thomas of Mickl Cumdy? & Jennet Davies otp, witnesses Wm & Evan Bevan, Wm Bevan witnessed several on the page so possibly the parish clerk.

The church in Llanfihangel Cwmdu was St Michaels so that may be what the person recording the marriage meant?

I wonder if somebody could post a link to the census entry for William, Ann and Jennett Bevan from 1841?
When I look for it, I cant seem to find them,
