Hugh Lewis - Died in South Africa
« on: Friday 21 April 17 21:37 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I am trying to find out more relating to the death of Hugh in South Africa in c1890.

He was originally from Wales, born 18 January 1849 in Caernarvon and married Ann Parry in Caernarvonshire in 1876 - she died shortly afterwards in 1878.

I know nothing about his death except he may have died at sea.

Can anyone provide me with more information - it would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Alan

Hello,

Many thanks for the details - it has helped to solve a long standing mystery.

I wondered if there would be any way to find his grave or details of his emigration to South Africa?

Alan

I can find no grave for him. You can try the website ancestorsonboard. Records only go from 1890-1960. Apparently shipping records before that were burnt when the building in the uk was bombed by Germans.
