I think you got the right one with the 1933 reference. There is a road on which Yonderton farm sits which connects Greenock Rd and Inchinnan Road but which doesn't appear to be named on the maps

Hi All,
Thanks for your replies.
Caroline I did look up the death cert. and it ties up with the assault being on the 19th May.
I will look up the Herald entry.  12 miles does seem a long walk.
He was taken to a nearby farm after the assault.

Bingo! The Greenock Telegraph of 22nd May 1900, says he was:
