George WORLD & Elizabeth MATE

Hi All,

I'm trying to chase up any information George WORLD and his wife Elizabeth MATE.

George was baptised on 25th Apr 1785 in Hythe and married Elizebeth MATE 16th Oct 1809. They had a son George John WORLD born in 1812 in Hythe.

If anyone can give me any information on George, Elizabeth & their children it would be greatly appreciated.

There is an 1802 poll book on Ancestry showing a George World of Hythe as a tailor.

It doesn't look as if he made the 1841 census though.

What sort of info do you require?

1881; George 1812 is a Chelsea Penioner, living in Hampshire, mar and easy to find on earlier Census

1861; John George is a Coast Guard in Devon and mar, 1861 a Linc Victuller/retired Coast Guard. By 1881 still a Licensed Victuller in Seaton and Bear, Devon.   

Kate married Thomas Henry LEGROVE (F/S.Org), 02 May 1846, St Thomas, Portsmouth, Hampshire

GRO Index has him age 55***

May be Elizabeth, Kate and Siblings in 1841;

1851 Census Elizabeth World is down as born c 1787 Rye, Kent (still in Portsea)

Thanks for the help so far.

I'm trying to find more info on Elizabeth WORLD nee MATE after Trish passed on the info from the 1851 census that give her as born c 1787 Rye Kent.

I have no other information on Elizabeth.

Is Rye in Kent because google is telling me it is in East Sussex?

Any more info on Elizabeth would be greatly appreciated.

Its either a mistake and she is born Hythe, Kent or yes you are correct Rye, Sussex.
