Is shown in two families

One married a rosaline gardner about 1866

The other one stayed single but is shown living with a Alice pegler 1891 census
1901 and 1911 Joseph and Alice shown as husband and wife ( but no marriage occurred )

Trying to establish which parents go with the different Joseph ??

Hi

23 January 1866 at Sheepscombe

From the marriage register the Joseph Hogg that married Rosiline Gardner ~ his father was Samuel Hogg a butcher, it was witnessed by an Elizabeth Hogg too.

Josephs occupation was a Mason and he was 23 years old

Agree with Claire.

Occupations are important when trying to establish parentage unless of course they have the same occ.

Have you found both Joseph's on all census' to differentiate & confirm there was no 2nd marriage or wife died even if he didn't remarry & only lived with 2nd partner?

Occupations again should help?

You would need to confirm when & where born, what census records he's on with father's occ. & later his own occ. with ages tallying.

A 2nd marriage isn't necessary, have you confirmed wife was still alive on all census' or found a death which fits?

I am researching the hogg family

Joseph high born 1842 stroud ??

Can you tell us if he was transcribed as 'High' or 'Hogg' or was it a 'typo' as you may be looking at different families  ???

It's always a help if there's extra details such as where/when etc. for others to compare such as whether it's census records or births/baptisms etc.

RCr's answer 100's of queries i.e. info. to relate to without having to 'google' is an enormous help for all.

Which Peter (no info. given) & who is Vick?...again no info. to related to, to help confirm anything  ::)
