The above with her husband Frederick Arthur Cook were naturalised the same day. However, he passed over 8 Jan 1993 at Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia, where he was living 1972-1977 but Miriam wasn't recorded there. Did she remain in NZ-seems odd?

Hi Cr

How certain are you >

*   that Arthur Frederick COOK  (you have "Frederick Arthur" ?) passed away at Surfers Paradise in January 1993 ?

*   that this is death relates to the husband of Miriam COOK (nee SADLER) ??

*   Do you have some sort of record for this death  ?

Asking these questions because you've stated this Frederick Arthur COOK, "was living at Surfers Paradise 1972-1977".

And yet ... there is no "Frederick Arthur" COOK on electoral records for Surfers Paradise in those years ???

There is an "Arthur Frederick COOK" in 1972 and 1977 - Queensland > McPherson Electorate (which incorporates Surfers Paradise),  however this man shares a residence with a lady of a name other than "Miriam COOK" !! ?   [This lady is also on the 1968 McPherson electorate roll with a probable daughter and on the 1980 roll (same address), again with what is possibly yet another daughter ? ]
To boot, the occupation for this A.F. COOK, is quite a bit different to that of Arthur F. COOK residing in Auckland, NZ, 1978 and 1981.

Her d.o.b. was given on NZ Naturalisation document.

Yes I know that Lu,I was just making a point of stressing her age after someone said she was still alive last year  ;D ;D

Sorry I confused you about Miriam's husband's name, it must be my age.... His name was Arthur Frederick Cook b 22/3/1915. The Cook tree I found on Ancestry gave me his passing and then the electoral roll in Australia seemed to confirm his residence prior to that.
Certainly it appears they were both naturalised in NZ in 1979.
Presumably the Cook tree has sent me down the wrong road especially as I suppose Cook is a fairly common name; I'd thought as they've photos on their tree of the couple that the tree owner had family knowledge but seems not?
So are there any obits in NZ for Arthur?

I don't see anything for either of them in NZ BDM's but this may be them on ER's

Arthur F Cook    1978    Albany    Auckland
Miriam Cook    1978    Albany    Auckland

Miriam Cook                    1981    North Shore    Auckland
Arthur Frederick Cook    1981    North Shore    Auckland

Cheers Janette

Hi Cr ... I'm guessing then that you haven't actually been in touch personally with the COOK tree owner (@ ancestry) to ask further questions ??
Unfortunately, just because a tree appears on one of these family history sites, or the internet in general, it's not a guarantee that all the information it contains, is correct.   ;D

When I glanced at the COOK trees @ ancestry, a few things didn't quite add up for me (and I only had limited knowledge of the family).  And in part, that is what caused me to look further at Australian records (having though already found your couple in Auckland, NZ, in 1978 and 1981).

As mentioned previously, the only Arthur Frederick COOK at Surfers Paradise shared an address for a time with a Rose Lavinia COOK (d. 2014 aged 93 - thanks to an AUS RootsChatter for the heads up on Rose's death.   The Ryerson Newspaper Index in Australia reveals there is a funeral/death notice for Rose. )  [Have no idea if this man was her husband / or a son, as unable to locate death record or other for him in 1993.]

Certainly it appears they were both naturalised in NZ in 1979.

Yes, to Naturalisation in New Zealand in November 1979 ... (there's no disputing that).

Another thing you haven't mentioned, is a child or children of Arthur F. and Miriam COOK ... and if I recall, I didn't see mention of this in the online COOK trees ??  [Need to re-check. ]

Have some info I will send to you via a personal message, because of the very real possibility that the persons concerned are still living.

New Zealand Electoral Rolls

1978 - Auckland > Albany

COOK - Arthur F. - 94a Coronation Road, Glenfield -  fctry spvr (? factory supervisor)
COOK - Miriam - same address
... and oddly has been listed with same occupation as Arthur  ???

1981 - Auckland > North Shore*

COOK - Arthur Frederick
COOK - Miriam ... both at 3 Beach Road, listed as "superannuitants".

Note:   *1981 is the limit for NZ electoral rolls which are able to be searched online.
--------------
No death records found in NZ ... and cemetery/burial records to 2007, (usually only for persons with a headstone), also checked.

Thank you all, I found the 1981 electoral roll on Ancestry but not the 1978 one but looks like they were pensioners on the 1981.
I've written to the Cook tree owner to try to find out more about the Australian idea, seems to be regularly on Ancestry so hopefully I'll get a reply soon.

... oops ... meant to mention that after looking again at the 3 COOK trees (@ ancestry), only one tree records "offspring" of Arthur and Miriam.   The child is not named.

Also, had you noticed (can't remember which of the trees had it), but "Norris William COOK" a brother of Arthur Frederick, is shown as living in Australia ?    He's at  > Queensland > Bowman > Wynnum electorate (with wife Nellie) in the years 1972 to 1980.
Maybe the tree owners who have Arthur's death 1993 in Queensland, have assumed that the man at Surfers Paradise was the brother of Norris Wm. COOK ??     Maybe they have "evidence" ??  ;D
