James's first son was John and he also had a daughter Cecilia.

Brilliant! This indicates a form of naming pattern in the family then. Cecilia isn't an overly common name so it's looking promising!

I only came across this thread today.  James Gow was my GG Grandfather, and I do have a fair amount of information regarding him and his family in Launceston. I of course would like to share this with you if possible. Perhaps you could send me a private message?
