Mary & Richard Lonnon - Portsea 1800s - wills etc
« on: Tuesday 25 April 17 05:20 BST (UK) »
Hi again,

this query follows on from a previous post:
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=770168.0

I have traced the parents of Eliza Benneck Lonnon (1804) back to Mary Webber (1770) and Richard Lonnon (birthdate unknown).

I found a reference in a Hampshire newspaper March 7 1846 describing the intention to sell the house of Mary Lonnon, recently passed away. It occurred to me that there might be a will somewhere.

The Hampshire County Council website lists wills for Richard Lonnon (1822, 1836) and Mary Lonnon (1846).  See attached screenshot. The address of Cumberland St matches the newspaper reference.

First question:
Is there some way I can view these wills online? I am in Singapore, very far from the Hampshire CC.

Second question:
Noting that there are two will records for Richard Lonnon, am I correct to assume that the first (1822) is the creation of a will for Mr Lonnon and the second (1836) is the processing of the will upon his death?

Cheers
-DC

If you want to know about Hampshire wills that you have found on their website, then ask them, though this looks like relevant information about ordering:
