Constance & Stephen OGDEN Manchester
« on: Tuesday 25 April 17 13:30 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I am trying to compile a family tree for my daughter with little information to go on.

Her grandfather was born in January 1944 in Manchester. His name on the birth certificate was Stephen, though this changed later. His mother was called Constance Ogden. She appears to have been unmarried.

I would like to know more about my daughter's great grandfather and would be interested to know more about her great grandmother's family. There are a few Constance Ogdens living in that area at the time. I can't figure out which Ogden family is the correct one. I wondered if anybody may have come across Constance during their family research?

Hallo, Bodmin, and a warm welcome to Rootschat.

I don't have any answers yet, but a couple of questions which may help us in the search:

Did Constance Ogden marry later?  If so, the marriage cert will probably give the name and occupation of her father.

Do you know if Stephen was baptised? - the church record may list other helpful names (godparents?)

A quick note - Rootschat has a policy of not naming living people, so I hope this is not an issue.

All the best
Philip

Thank you both for replying.

Neither person is alive. The father is not listed on the birth certificate. I have searched endlessly through various records but cannot find anything more.

(Philip - you research Bowbricks? I would love to know more)

(Philip - you research Bowbricks? I would love to know more)

There are several threads on Rootschat about various Bowbrick lines - just type Bowbrick in the search box at the top of the page..  Also, if you post another comment, you will be able to send me a personal message - I have a fair amount of information on my direct line (in and around Shere, Surrey from 1620 until Ellen Bowbrick married Charles Basford in 1850, Southwark) which I will gladly share.

Regards
Philip
