Hi all,
On the 1911 census a distant relative Minnie Manson (b1880, Newington, Hull) is at an address in Bulwell, Notts. The address being 108-110. Highbury Road, Bulwell.
Minnie is one of 11 women in the household, 9 of which are all listed as Sick Nurses. Within the industry or service column all 11 have the initials L.G.B. within it, also written in the same column, but lengthways bottom to top are the words 'All Poor Law Guardians'.
Having looked at a couple of maps it appears that the address is on the corner of Highbury Road & Piccadilly? It would also appear to be on the opposite side of the road from the Highbury Hospital?
Could someone confirm the above or otherwise for me please? Also was the address a nurses living quarters for the hospital?
Lastly what do the initials LGB mean & what does it mean by them being 'poor law guardians'?
Many thanks in advance.
Kind regards
David
