Pre-1900 Birth Certificates
« on: Wednesday 26 April 17 14:30 BST (UK) »
Hi Folks,
Over the years of research have managed to obtain info from census and various other documents without ordering pre-1900 BC's
Now I need to order one and was wondering what info I will find.  I am interested in the mother or fathers name.

Thanks for advice.

An example:

1882 birth certificate:

When and where born
Name, if any
Sex
Name and surname of father
Name, surname and maiden surname of mother
Occupation of father
Signature, description and residence of informant
When registered
Signature of registrar
Name entered after registration

Just realised that was a copy after the 1958 Act.

I've got an original 1911 birth certificate, and the headings are the same.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
