Hello Owenwee!
I  am the great great granddaughter of Michael Cox listed on the Griffith Record.
I have seen these census households but could not figure how to find out the dead Cox husbands/fathers. Now I know they are John and James! So now I have two sons of Michael who stayed in Aghadeffin. I really appreciate your help. I don't understand how you found those names and matched them but you certainly helped me!
I have found in US records for four other sons who came to US.
I found one daughter Bridget who married a Duffy and stayed in the area.I found her info through the pension applications of her daughters.
Are you familiar with Aghadeffin?
Thank you so much,
Kathy

I have looked again and now see that Michael Cox appears in Tithe Appl Books in 1831 and is most likely as you say the father of James and John who remained in Ireland and your relation Michael emigrated.

I use the site Rootsireland  which is fee paying to find the names of children in census, the marriage of Mary Cox son Thomas showed his fathers name as does the marriage of John Cox and Honoria.

I did come across another man Bartholemew Cox he was listed as having several children with wife Catherine. The address is listed as Aghadifflin.
John 1856
Thomas 1857 sponsor at Bap John Cox
Patrick 1859  sponsor at Bap  Thomas Cox
James  1861

There is no marriage for Bartholemew, I have seen in the past Bernard as and alternative name for Bartlolemew  I  also saw a marriage for  a Thomas Cox 1846 with a witness Bartholomew Cox.

I have not been to Aghadeffin area only travelled many times using Knock Airport some 10mins away from the area.
