John Nicol Kirk b. 3 March 1889 *** COMPLETED THANKS ***
« on: Thursday 27 April 17 10:36 BST (UK) »
Hi there

I've come up against another brick wall regarding a distant relation named John Nicol Kirk who was born in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland on the 3rd of March 1889, the first child and son of William Young Kirk and Margaret Litster Nicol.

The 1891 and 1901 Scottish Census record him living in St Andrews and I have found a ship manifest from 1913 for him crossing to Canada, destination Winona, Ontario.  His next of kin is shown as Mrs M. Kirk at 2 Union Street, St Andrews.  I believe she was Magdalen Fenton Kinsman whom John married in 1911 in St Andrews.

I know that he was attested at Niagara Camp on Jun 29 1915, #453062, for service with the Canadian Over-seas Expeditionary Force.

After this, the trail has run dry.

Can anyone help?

Regards

I MAY HAVE "JUMPED THE GUN" IN STARTING THIS THREAD, AS I HAVE JUST FOUND THE DEATH OF JOHN'S WIFE HERE IN ST ANDREWS IN 1957.  IT SHOWS JOHN PRE-DECEASED HER.

Thanks manawakian

I picked up on his death date following the discovery of his wife's death.

As I said, "I think I may have 'jumped the gun' in starting this thread."

Hi Jacquie

I only have the first page - his Attestation.  Now I've got access to the whole lot - thanks to you  :)

The brick wall has come tumbling down big time  ;D
