on 1881 census he was living with his wife Isabella Gillespie

The family were then living at 273 New City Road Glasgow.

Cannot find him either in the 1891 onwards census.

However, the Scotlands People Index have a death in 1888 for a James Watson, aged 59 in the Maryhill District of Glasgow. His address in the 1881 census is in Maryhill.

Could this be him?
