The problem with Edward being given the "wrong" name is that none of the other details fit either. We either have two wives called Fanny, possibly the same lady, but why would the clergyman say she lived at two different places?
Is there a marriage any where of an Edward Lockye(a)r to a Fanny ??

It is puzzling, I hadn't look back a baptism page to see the other couple.

There's a marriage Dec 1878 Kensington with an Edward Lockyer - Alfred David - Emily Alice Blyth - Fanny Birch

so would have to see if the couples match up Edward/Fanny rather than Alfred/Fanny

Nope scrap that marriage the couples don't match up - Edward married Emily Alice.
Was a long shot anyway.

Thank ou for that help.

According to the marriage entry, for George and Sarah, he was a widower, when they married, in 1858.

His father is down as SAVAGE KEEN  Lockyear ( I had this checked, on a post on the deciphering hanswriting postings ).
I have found a burial for Savage ( St Thomas St, Wells ), but cannot find him, on the censuses, as Savage.
There is a Baptism for him, in Cossington, in 18 Jun 1781.

The nearest I can find, is a Samuel born Cossington, married a Frances Adams, Wells 1809 and they have a George,  1816, Easton, died 1817 and a George, Easton 1818.( Baptised, Wells ).
there are other children.

If this is the couple, they are in Easton, in 1841, with a George.

In 1851, they are in St Cuthbert's St. Wells, lodgers, and he's a pauper, former waggoner. ( George is a haulier on some entries, so it sounds promising ? )

In 1851, there is a George Lockyer, coal haulier, lodger, in East Wells ( St Thomas St / Barh Rd area of Wells )
So, if this is him. there should be a marriage between 1851 and 1858 and a death for his first wife ... I am still searching for one ...

George and Sarah, have an Edward James in 1878, he sadly died, a few months old.
