Italian Military Internees

Hi there,

Trying a shout in the dark... any suggestions on researching Italian Military Internees? My husband and I just found out his grand Uncle (Giorgio F Raffaelli, b. 21 Nov 1927) was captured by the Nazis in Northern Italy (Fosicandora, Lucca, Toscana, Italia) and served in a camp. I'd love to find documentation.

I could only find 2 Raffaelli family trees in Lucca ,Toscana Italy for the period 1920-1930
Olimpia b 1872 - died 1972 ...nice age
Franco 1896 - 1948

Thank you so much, garstonite! I will definitely make a note of these; and yes, my husband's family is particularly long-lived.. his great-grandmother lived well into her 90's, and his grandmother is currently 94.

dathai, thank you for that resource! Unfortunately, he was actually Italian at the time, and it appears that this resource is for British POWs. I'll look into a bit closer soon!
