That chap was a farmer and his wife, Bridget, was present at death.

That Thomas was a farmer and his widow was Bridget.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Thanks so far!

It is always possible that he died outside Scotland but the death of Thomas Gildea looks to be incorrect as, has previously been advised, he was a farmer with his wife Bridget in attendance!  It is strange that there is no trace of Thomas or Elizabeth (unless she re-married) or Sarah (if Elizabeth died and Thomas re-married).  I wonder if the deaths were un-recorded?  How common is that?

I didn't come across the name in the birth, marriage & death announcements in the Glasgow Herald 1904 to 1906.  I had already done 1907 to 1914 before I saw your post.  I was searching for the Gilmour name, so it didn't put me out at all looking for the Gildea name.

If, like me you are desperate to find someone, the Glasgow Herald archive can be found here https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=GGgVawPscysC

It's on line until 1900 with the British Newspaper Archive & FindMyPast.

The Google archive is incomplete, issues missing or so badly scanned they are illegible, but it is free and their archive goes up to 1990.

I believe there are new parish records going on line at Scotlandspeople in a few weeks time.  You might have some luck with this new archive.

Thanks for this; looks like I'll have to spend some time going through the announcements!  At least I have somewhere to start so many thanks for your assistance.  What confuses me is the lack of a record on the Scotland's People web site; unless it has been indexed incorrectly.

Came across this from 1915 in the Glasgow Herald. Any connection to you?
