John Mcfarlane Wife Grizel Mercer Mcfarlane
« on: Friday 28 April 17 20:09 BST (UK) »
I am looking for any information in parishes in and near Perthshire. John Mcfarlane married Grizel Mercer 8, Dec. 1752 in Dull, Perth, Scotland, United Kingdom and together they had at least two sons. Presumably, First son named George was b. in 1758 but passed as an infant. Second son, also named George was b. in 1760. I do not know the birth date or the death date of John Mcfarlane. Grizel is buried at Greyfriars Cemetery. b. 1735 and d. 17, Dec. 1798. I can't find any record of John being buried at Greyfriars. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you again, one other question?  Do you know the name of the parish church I would contact to request Birth, Marriage, and death records?

In Scotland the parish churches do not hold the pre-1855 registers, they are kept in Edinburgh.

The easiest way is to use the web-site 'ScotlandsPeople' and pay a small fee for the documents that you wish to consult.

https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

Go to the 'Advanced Search' page and put in the surname, forename range of dates (e.g. 1740 to 1760), select 'Perth' which means Perthshire and the select Dull from the lower menu (your parish)

You will see the George McFarlane and an icon to pay 6 credits.

It should look something like this:

Surname   Forename   Parents/ Other Details   Age   Date   Parish Number   Ref   Parish   Image View

MCFARLANE, GEORGE        JOHN MCFARLANE/GRISIL MERCER    0   23/04/1758 346/20 213  Dull
. (6 credits)

MCFARLANE GEORGE     JOHN MCFARLANE/GRIZEL MERCER  0  03/02/1760  346/20 227  Dull
. (6 credits)

Alternatively you can pay a researcher to visit a library which holds the Mormon Church microfilms.
