Hi Ian,

Thanks again. Can we be sure it is him? Does it list him as coming from Tofta? What detail does the probate give regarding his next of kin/beneficiaries? What happened to Cathrina/Catharina did she move with him?

Kind Regards,

Anthony

Living children:
Annika Olofsdotter married to Olof Hindricsson at Frändarve in Eskelhem Parish.
Gerthrud Olofsdotter married to Anders Olofsson at Kvie in Hejde Parish.
Per Olsson married to unnamed
Catarina Olofsdotter unmarried
Dorti

According to the image you posted Olof was born 8 Jan 1690 and Cathrina 1689. I believe the date Oct 1717 is their marriage date.

Cathrina was living at the time of Olof's death.

It looks as though Olof was quite a wealthy man, he was the owner or share holder of a flour mill.

It says he was from Tofta (from what I can make out) and married to Cathrina Nilsdotter.

Hi Anthony

I must go now. Leave any questions and I will get back to you.
What do you know of Olof so I don't look for what you already have.

Hi Ian,

Thank you for your helpful information  :) :). I wonder when Cathrina Nilsdotter died? Certainly post June 1751.

He seems to have owned some property, does the record indicate where he owned that property?

Hi Anthony
I have had a go at decyphering the probate. Pretty difficult I must say. I have written the Swedish as I see it and then the translation which I must say leaves a lot to be desired. The probate is written in  old and difficult Swedish which I had trouble wording into coherent English. Anyway I think you may get the idea.
It looks as though he owned Stenhuse and a property at Kroks in Tofta Parish too. There is a mention of a saw-mill which must mean the one at Petarve in Sanda Parish.

The probate is the longest I have seen. It is of 14 pages and very detailed.

Year 1751 on 28 June probate for Stenhuse in Sanda Parish.
4/16th of a "tax" purchased during the marriage of the late Olof Persson and his remaining widow Catarina Nilsdotter with belongings preferably from the flour mill at Stenhuse also half of Stenhuse and .......... subordinates saw-mill for 460 silver coins in which 20 coins is withheld as Olof Persson from the property at Krok in Tofta for a 1/4 del tax.

I wonder when Cathrina Nilsdotter died?

The only Cathrina Nilsdotter that could be her is a Catharina Nilsesdotter from Westerby, Sanda Parish died on 17 Apr 1775 and was 73 years old. There were no other candidates in Sanda Parish.

Hi Ian,

Many thanks for your assistance - it certainly doesn't look easy to translate or decipher.

Kind Regards,

Anthony  :) :)
