1871 census David & Caroline Jones

This couple married Stockton on Tees Dec 1865 son Robert John was born October 1866 Middlesbrough(have birth cert) 1871 census has Robert John with his grandparents  Robert and Mary at York Street Normanby RG10 4855 34 21 (he is mistranscribed as Robert S son. Cannot find parents David and Caroline. Would appreciate help with this.

or it could be Caroline that is their daughter. Found them in Beaufort, Llangattock in 1851 and there's a daughter Caraline aged 8 born Breconshire. HO107/2490 folio 245 pg 28.

As you have the marriage cert, are Robert & Mary the parents of David or Caroline?

Sorry don't have any more details for Caroline, have sent for marriage cert should be here next week.
The only info I  have on her was from Son Robert John's birth cert. Her name before marriage was also Jones.

so, if you don't have the marriage cert, how do you know that Robert & Mary were the parents of David? Given that they are both Jones, the Caroline aged 8 on the 1851 census could be Robert John's mother and the David she married from another Jones family.

In 1861, Caroline aged 19 born Beaufort. Monmouthshire is in Middlesbrough, servant with a family named Roberts RG9/3686 folio 63 pg4.

This record shows her father to be Robert & his father John. Her age ties in with the family I've found and possibly the 1868 death reg.
