Advice on Information from Marriage Register Holmes/Blair marriage
« on: Sunday 30 April 17 12:37 BST (UK) »
Hi

I was wondering if someone with experience of Scottish parish registers could offer some advice.

I have traced the marriage of my third Grandparents Benjamin Holmes and Mary Blair, through the Scotlands People website, to a marriage in the parish of Abbey 28/02/1818. I was hoping that I would find some details of Mary's father so that I could research her line but the information is scant. All it says is "Benjamin Holmes and Mary Blair both of this parish were booked the 28Th." It's the booked reference that is confusing me. Is this a marriage record or is it a record of a marriage being booked and might there be a further record of the marriage showing more detail.

Any advice would be much appreciated

Thanks
