Can you place John Lewin COX after his 1816 marriage?!

There was a daughter Alice Ann Lewin Cox who married Samuel Bevans in Leicester in 1842. Per the register her father was John Lewin Cox, FWK ( = framework knitter)

Also a John Cox aged 30, widower, who married Ann Brown in Leicester in 1860. Father John Lewin Cox, FWK.

John Lewin Cox signed the marriage register in 1816 with a very elegant signature. Did your John Cox sign in 1844?

No, you can't post images on a Lookup Request board.

I suggest you start a new thread on the main Leicestershire board asking for a comparison of the 1844 John Cox signature (post the signature image) with the 1816 Leicester marriage signature  of John Lewin Cox.

I found that family too which I think is the John Lewin COX family.

I will start the thread now.  BUT, looking at the cert the writing and the signature all looks VERY similar.

I would be looking at the baptisms and marriages of all of the children of John Lewin Cox and his wife Elizabeth for more circumstantial evidence. You might also consider contacting the owners of the various trees on Ancestry in which they feature.

This looks to be the baptism of Emma Cox at St Mary's Leicester on January 3rd 1836:

Emma Cox, parents John & Elizabeth. Abode: Hollow. Trade: Stocking Maker
