If this is the correct Frances COX, it be John COX's sister or daughter!  Sister bc1794, daughter bc1817.  Nothing jumps out on the census for a Frances JONES, b. Leicestershire.

Just to add, there's a marriage license for John Jones and Frances Cox, he was a boatman.

Thanks Willsy

I'll check the census again for a boatman to work out the correct Frances.

If they 'were' both over 21 then Frances was the 'sister' of John Lewin COX, and aged about 41.  Frances the 'daughter' would only be about 18.

I cant see them on the 1841 but I'm away for a week so cant have a good look.

With thanks,

Hi all

I received the MC in the mail just this second and we've seen the signature before!  It looks like the one Jomot provided on the marriage of Frances COX in 1835... I'm not sure about John Lewin COX in 1816 though?!  What do you think?!

Can anyone spot John and Frances JONES nee COX on any census because I have 2 poss Frances' to narrow it down to please.  One born 1794 and one born 1817.

Awaiting your thoughts,

bitzar.

team

I have just found Frances JONES on the 1861 in Staffordshire, where her husband was from.  Children on the census state MMN is COX on the GRO.

So this Frances was baptised in Ratby in 1817.  She had a brother John COX who was only 8 in 1835 so that rules him out, plus her father John Lewin COX who (I think) had a different hand in 1816.

Arghhhh.  I guess it does tie MY John COX to the other family because of this signature, but it is enough?!
