One of my 5xG-grandmothers was Eliza (or Elizabeth) ALLEN. She was married in East Ilsley in 1787. I would like to establish which particular Eliza Allen "my" Eliza was. Assuming she was born in EI, and making assumptions about her age at marriage, there's a choice of two:
The first one was bap 1761 to parents William & Jane nee BROWN. She seems to have had siblings
Mary 1756
Ann 1759
Richard 1767
William 1770
The second one was bap 1766 to parents Thomas & Sarah nee BOLTON. She seems to have had siblings
Mary 1764
Hannah 1768
Thomas 1769
William 1771
Sussana 1773
John 1775
Sarah 1776
I'm hoping that someone descended from one of Eliza's siblings (and hopefully not William as you'll presumably have the same conundrum as me!) might have done an autosomal DNA test. Whilst it wouldn't be conclusive (these Vale of White Horse families seemed to intermarry an awful lot) it might throw up some new leads in terms of mutual matches.
Please do get in touch if you think you can shed any light on the situation.
Jane :-)
