Joseph Genesis abt 1752 - 1840
« on: Tuesday 02 May 17 19:11 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to find more information around my 5x Great Grandfather Joseph Genesis, he died at the Strand Union Workhouse in Feb 1840 aged 88.

He had 4 children that I know of
Mary Ann Genesis 1793 - ?
Joseph Genesis 1794 - ?
Francis John Genesis 1795 - 1858
Charles Nathan Genesis 1803 - 1864

the mother for these children is listed as Mary Ann on the christening records.

I can't find anything before 1793 for Mary Ann nor Joseph Genesis so no marriage record, earlier children (if Any) or birth/christening record for Joseph.

Any suggestions on where to look next?

Thanks in advance

Hi
He's buried as Joseph Antonio Geneses 10.2.1840 at St Clement Danes age 88 from Cleveland St Union House.
Tax record 1818 J Geneses  at Pickett St between Clement Lane and Wych st st Clement Danes.

There is also a Isaac Genese on Pickett St a victim of crime on the Old Bailey website 1817 an auctioneer may be worth a look.
There's also a Will for a Sampson Genese schoolmaster Islington in 1815 but that leaves everything to wife and children without naming them.

You could also try looking under Jenness /Jenysus and other weird spellings.
