I am wondering how anyone could identify the man described in the 1884 death certificate as an ancestor?

 ;D
While I  do agree the DC seems a little light on information, I am just wondering whether mwbayley has perhaps some other information which makes Eliza and this William WOODS husband and wife of the right family. Some other circumstances or records maybe.

Hi Sue,
it was simply a case of believing what someone else in my family had done as being correct.
Thank you for pointing this out.
I have now found who I believe is the correct William Woods. He died in 1859 at Windsor, which fits better, as this was the area that the family lived in.
Have sent away for a transcription of this death.
Regards,
MB
