There is a Social Security application for Herbert Patrick Scott born 3 Oct. 1912 in New York, New York.  Parents listed as Ernest Scott and Emily S. Burden.  He died 13 Nov. 1996.

Could this be Emma/ Emily in 1920 census. Location seems to be right, Manhattan, same place the children were found. Year and POB seem to match also.

1920 census:  https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MJBL-8MK

Thanks for finding all of this. How were deaths recorded in New York in that period. It seems like she disappeared.   Maybe she uses the name Emily.

Looks like she used the name Scott and info you have all found suggests the relationship was serious.

That's the first time I've seen an immigration date.

Could this be Emily on a passenger list?  https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JJXM-KQ3

If she remained in New York City, there are records/indexes for deaths up to a certain point at familysearch.org and www.italiangen.org

This may be a long shot, but I thought it was interesting - https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:24DZ-5K7  On the bride's index at www.italiangen.org, her name was transcribed as Burden.  I thought maybe the parents' names were mixed up with Ernest Scott's name?

I had a look at that. Maybe if she lies about her martial status it could be her.

Interesting. I wonder why she left the children with someone else if she didn't die. Although she done that twice already in England.

Ernest H Burden

Elizabeth Eascott which makes that marriage record look likely.

All from Hammersmith London
