JEACOCK
« on: Thursday 04 May 17 14:33 BST (UK) »
Please, can anyone help me with the original birthplace, if the census says "British Subject by Parentage"

I am trying to find out the original birthplace of  Frank Jeacock and his wife Effie Jeacock.

The 1911 census gives Frank's birthplace as Stoke Lyne, Oxfordshire
and
Effie as Silverstone, Northants.  BOTH are listed as "British Subject by Parentage".

I THINK Frank's parents were William Jeacock and Margaret I.

Can anyone tell me where they were born ?

What year was he born please? **

William and Margaret are born same place as Frank so all are British.  I think sometimes people misunderstood the headings on the census.

** birth registration Jun 1873 Bicester district which covers Stoke Lyne
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

I suspect that when he filled in the 1911 census form he did not read the question properly, the places of birth are quite clear.

This looks like Franks birth registration
Births Jun 1873
Jeacock    Frank
Bicester reg district    3a   645

Stoke Lyne comes in that reg district

I think Frank Jeacock was born 1874 and Effie in 1881.  I know it says Stoke Lyne for Frank and Silverstone for Effie.....but it also says "British subject by parentage".....that's the part that baffles me

I often wondered whether they were Jewish.....maybe eastern Europe ?

I think that he has just misread the form.  We know where they were both born as the places stated on the census tie in with the birth registrations.  If they were born abroad their births would not have been registered in Bicester & Towcester but would appear on another GRO index for British nationals born abroad.

Have you traced their families further back  :-\
