Does anyone know where I can find the regiment and number of a soldier who was in WW2 and survived.

All his family is dead so cant get the info that way.

I just received the RAF WW2 records for my grandfather who enlisted in 1939 and was discharged in 1946.

They will search for you if you give as much info as possible. If you're not next of kin, you'll only get very basic information unless you can get the signed consent of next of kin, then you'll get the full service record. You'll need the death certificate or if the veteran is still living they can apply.
