Stained glass window St John's Church Belfast
« on: Saturday 06 May 17 13:44 BST (UK) »
Hello
Our church is commemorating the death 100 years ago in June of Ernest Stafford Carlos, who painted the famous Pathfinder Scout painting, the original of which is kept at Gilwell Park. This painting is depicted in his memory in a stained-glass window in our church. https://www.facebook.com/Holy-Cross-Church-Hornchurch-463618100370962/?fref=nf
I am collecting images of other stained glass depictions of the painting for a leaflet to be given out at a special service commemorating the life and works of Carlos. In the book ‘Painting in Ernest’ by Steven Harris, he mentions that there is another stained glass window in St John's Church, Belfast.

Not sure which St John's he is referring to, but wondered is anyone had any idea where this window is, and how I could get a photo of it please?

Thank you
Mary

There's a St John's church on the upper Ormeau Road.
I was there for a sale in the church hall today, but hadn't seen your message.
I'll see whether I can get there tomorrow while the church itself is open.

Mary,

St John's Presbyterian church, Newtownbreda, is at the corner of the Ormeau Road and Knockbreda Road, 54°34'13"N, 5°54'48"W.  The window is in the SW corner.
Nobody I spoke to knows who made it,
but apparently the church has a long association with the Scout movement.

If you like to send me a PM with your eMail address, I'll send you a photo.
