Deidre your Mabel Ruth was in previous research and it takes little research to find her mother, siblings etc.  Mabel also had an entry on the GEDCOM I sent you.

Don't you recall the information I gave you about Mabel Ruth COOK in this post

How fortunate to find the name of the unknown father from a birth in 1903. Tree owners have his name as Walter G MILLSTEAD.   He was possibly born in  Jul 1885 in SA, married in 1913 in WA and died in 1945 also in that state.  If it is the same man, and I cannot find another Walter G MILLSTEAD born in Australia, he was very young to have fathered a child born in Feb 1903.

There are many public trees and one private trees on Ancestry. Have you contacted all the owners of those trees?  I haven't searched any of the other websites that host trees.

I find it odd that your contact knew Mabel Ruth had died but didn't know her name.  I would imagine that her death at such a great age would have been newsworthy in SA.  I cannot see a death for a Mabel Ruth with a notice published in the South Aus papers between 2005 and 2008 on the Ryerson Index.  Of course it is possible that the edition with a notice has not been transcribed.  It is possible there was no funeral notice.

Cheers

Another public tree has a note in connection with the father of Mabel Ruth COOK ::).
Believed to be George Robert THOMPSON

This is the man that Elizabeth COOK, her mother married in 1909.

The Walkerville Babies Home opened on 27 Aug 1915 and only accepted children from one year of age with preference being given to those from the Convent of Mercy.

A snip for your family tree.  Mention of Mr and Mrs Stan KENNY and child from Mt Gambier at Stan's parents Golden Wedding Anniversary.
