1871 census Office House, Llannon RG10/5472 folio 12 pg 8
David Davis head mar 62 farm bailiff b. Llangunnor
Ann wife 62 b. Llanarthney
William son 18 fireman at coal works b. Llanarthney
Mary Ann Beynon grand dau 5 b. Llannon
Ann Williams 26 servant b. Llanelly

1851 Llaeth Dy, Llannon HO107/2469 folio 308 pg 10
David Davies head mar 41 labourer b. Llangunnor
Anne wife 42 b. Llanarthney
Mary dau 18 b. Llanarthney
Thomas son 16 b. Llanartheny
David son 7 b. Llannon
Anne dau 3 b. Llannon

Working out Anne's maiden name from GRO index would be a nightmare with no unusual first name to work with.

1881 census David has died and Anne is with daughter Anne now married to Thomas Beynon in Pontyberem. RG11/5378 folio 79 pg 7

Thanks Osprey, your research has reassuringly confirmed mine. I am reasonably confident I have traced David Davies who married Jane Aubrey's ancestry. His mother is also Anne Davies and David and Anne married 25 Dec 1828, Llanarthney. If I am correct, In 1841 the family are living at Dan y Graig, Llanddarog, HO107/1384/10 page 8.

I was unsure David who married Jane parents were David and Anne as I have that David was born 16 Jan 1843, Pantyfynnon, Llannon, whereas David consistently in the census and on his gravestone has his birth in 1845. This maybe because of a miscalculation by David or perhaps David 1843 died young and their next son born 1845 was also then called David. I will have to chase this up.

With such a common name as David Davies I have been unable to obviously find him in the 1861 census. He is not with his parents, which if I am correct are at Tynywain, Castell, Llanarthney RG9/4134 page 4.

David and Anne are buried at Caersalem. David died 24 Nov 1874 and an died 24 Sep 1890

Regards

it's possible that David 'lost' a couple of years on marrying Jane as she was a bit younger than him.

By the 1861, David could be working away from home and also in 1861 there are some parts of the census that are missing.
Having said that, I can see a possible for him as a farm servant at Login Farm, Higher Swansea RG9/4100 folio 58 pg 15. It's on the outskirts of Waunarlwydd

Hello Osprey

Thanks for looking. I suspect he may be in the missing records. On his marriage certificate he is Blacksmith and in later censuses a Smith/Blacksmith, sometimes at a Colliery, therefore in 1861 I thought he would have been more likely to be working in a Colliery or be an apprentice Blacksmith, but of course I could be wrong!
