Elizabeth Hoole had a brother George age 6 in 1841
I think he became a cordwainer and he also married a Harriet (Harriet Slaney) but not until 1860

I think you need George Hoole c. 1858 's marriage cert to see what occ is given for father
and maybe George Hoole's marriage to Harriet Slaney 1860 to see if he was a widower

another possibility is George Hoole (junior) gave his father's name as George to cover up the fac that he was illegitimate ????

Thanks for all that. I have George's marriage cert. (to Harriet). Father's name is given as George and occupation Publican.

So that just further complicates things.

Transcription of a marriage 22 Jun 1880 George Hoole aged 23 and Harriet Turner at Chesterfield, his father is given as George Hoole.

The 1891 census has George Hoole

Wife Harriet is there and Frances Allsopp as a lodger

Thus confirms Harriet was his wife

1901 census says George Hoole born Milnthorpe Yorkshire

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Thanks or your help.

According to Genuki Milnthorpe is nr. Wakefield. That's a fair way from Derbyshire. If it's correct I wonder what he (or at least his mother) was doing there?

Does 1901 census give his profession?

Can you check mothers maiden name on this

Births Dec 1859
HOOL  George     Belper  7b 455

Belper covered South Wingfield

http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/reg/districts/belper.html

If the infant was living with uncle and aunt, his age 1861 c could have been thought wrong by them.

That looks promising. How do I check maiden name. You're obviously better at this than I am!

Another scenario

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M7FB-FG2

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q272-MRZP

Births Dec 1856

Slaney  George Henry     Mansfield  7b 45

https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

Upper Lanwith in above link not far from Derbyshire border and Chesterfield

If George was born illegitimate to Harriet Slaney who later married George Hoole 1860. (possible another father (not George Hoole)

Bit of shame born out of wedlock sent to Uncle & Aunt to bring up
