Hi, looking for any info on Katherine born 1893 believe in Croydon, father Alfred Webb,
On 3rd August  1917 she married my Grandfather John MacMillan in Orpington Kent
He was in the Canadian ARmy hospital in Orpington,
In 1918 he was sent back to Canada and discharged on ill health
The family have only just found this marriage  (he married my grandmother Clara Jones in 1920 in Canada)
We wiuld like to find out more about Katherine , from his army records she was living at 16 Wiltshire Road Orpington as Mrs M MacMillan and his wages were being pais to her.
Any info at all would be greatly appreciated

Looking further I notice that a John Leonard MacMillan emigrated to New south Wales age 5 in 1923, I wonder if he was aprt of the mass influx of children to Australia, and how to find out

No, he was travelling with his mother Kathleen and a younger brother.  Their address is given as 2 Roff Yard, James Street, Selby, Yorkshire.

I can see a possible birth reg for the younger brother in Selby in 1921 under the surname WEBB with the mother's maiden surname also WEBB so may suggest an illegitimate birth.

I don't think Katherine Mary Webb who married John MacMillan is the Kathleen Mary Webb birth Dec.1893 Croydon.

Think this lady married later in life to an August G Moore in Sept.1930 Croydon - can't give details from 1911 census or 1939 register due to copyright BUT will say that the formers occupation in 1911 and that of Katherine Mary Moore are the same - she was born 30/8/1893 and died Sept.1980 Chelsea.

If the emigration record found is the right one I note that both Christian name and surname have wrong spelling.

josalee, can you tell us if your information about Katherine's father being named Alfred is from the marriage cert?  If so, what was his occupation?  Did Katherine have an occupation?  Who were the witnesses?

If you don't have the marriage cert then you really need to get it to find more information about her.
